For your convenience, we offer an in-house pharmacy. We have the ability to dispense short and long term medications, flea and tick control products, intestinal parasite control, and heartworm preventatives. We will also pass along any discounts or rebates from drug manufacturers. In some cases if a medication cannot be obtained or offered by our in-house pharmacy, your veterinarian will write a prescription for you to fill at another human pharmacy.
Medications are renewed annually with a physical exam. In some cases, diagnostics such as bloodwork and tests to monitor organ function must be performed in order to renew a prescription. Please be advised that the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO) requires that your veterinarian establish and maintain a VCPR (veterinary-client-patient-relationship) prior to dispensing medication. As a result, your pet must be seen in the last year in order to have medication refilled. You can learn more about the Practice Standard for prescribing drugs on the CVO website.
When you order from us, you’ll know that the products you’re purchasing have been stored properly and are approved for use in Canada. And if you have any questions, you can ask your veterinarian.
